Cap Toe Shoes-How to Care for Them

What feels better than the feeling when you just got yourself a new pair of Cap Toe Shoes. Yes Siree, brand new leather Captoe oxfords that you've been waiting for and now you're ready to take on the business world with supreme confidence. You know the old saying that you could judge a man by the shoes on his feet. That expression is true in many aspects. I'm am surprised by how many men I see walking around in dress shoes like captoe shoes that look like they have seen better days and I'm not saying that you have to wear only new shoes. What I'm saying is that you should learn to take care of the cap toe shoes you have.

One of the first things I do when I have a new pair of cap toe shoes is to apply a wax polish to them if they are a smooth leather shoe. Why do I apply wax polish to them when they are brand new? Simple, because that wax polish such as kiwi will protect and seal the leather from the elements such as rain. Many times leather shoes are not given a thin layer of wax and rain can cause watermarks just the way a car can acquire. So just to be on the safe side, assume that your new leather cap toe shoes are essentially naked and need a layer of protection. The way to apply a wax polish is simple and takes only a few minutes. If the cap toe shoes are new, then you can start. If not, wipe the shoes down with a damp rag to remove any dirt that is on the shoes. Next, with a dry rag or old toothbrush you thinly apply the polish to shoes on all of the outside of the leather surface and edge of the soles if the shoes have leather soles. Let that shoe sit and do the other shoe in the same manner. After a couple of minutes I like to use a shoe shine brush and buff the cap toe oxford shoes in rhythmic fashion until the shoes are shining nicely. You should clean and shine your cap toe shoes once a week so they look their best and last longer.

To make your cap toe shoes last longer you should not wear them every single day. You should have at least two pairs of cap toe shoes so the pair you wore today can wick away all the moisture that they acquired while wearing them. If you don't let them sit for a day, what happens is all the moisture will break down the linings, cushioning and insole quicker. While your shoes are resting for a day or so you should put real cedar shoe trees in them to help restore them to their original shape. If you don't have any cedar shoe trees handy stuffing them with newspaper will suffice until you get shoe trees. I highly recommend cedar shoe trees due to the fact that they help absorb the moisture in your shoes. If you take these steps to properly take care of your cap toe shoes, you will be more than happy to let people judge you by the shoes you wear.
